Avoiding Plagiarism Workshop In-Person

Did you know that there has been a rise in cases of students caught cheating on platforms like Chegg and Discord? Did you know that plagiarism or cheating with others on an exam or assignment can result in an automatic zero or failure in the class? We have found that pressure and stress have led some students to engage in unethical academic behavior so we want to help students prevent this behavior before it leads to a case in the Student Conduct Office.

The University Library and the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity have teamed up to offer the “Avoiding Plagiarism & Maintaining Academic Integrity Workshop” to students. In this workshop, we will review Cal Poly Pomona’s definition of academic integrity, review some strategies and tips on paraphrasing and citations, and discuss how the misuse of online platforms can lead to an academic integrity violation.

The workshop will be offered this Spring 2021 Semester as follows: Tuesday, February 9th, Thursday, March 4th, Thursday, April 15th, and Tuesday, May 4th. The sessions will be conducted online via Zoom during U-Hour. We will email registrants with more details after sign-up.
